Ruby-crowned kinglet (Regulus calendula) looking back, 6-Dec-2012, Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve.
The Ruby-crowned Kinglet (Regulus calendula) is one of North America's smallest birds seen here in flight on 23-Nov-2012 at the Sepulveda Basin Wildlife Reserve before sunset. Males rarely display their ruby colored crown unless agitated. The Kinglet male featured here seems so relaxed around me that I have yet to witness the raised crown display.

Ruby-crowned Kinglet (Regulus calendula). The entire passion of the world can be seen in a single blade of grass.
